As a Californian feeling the squeeze from the rising cost of living, I’m asking you to oppose Governor Newsom’s refinery mandate proposal, ABX2-1. I get that the idea is to prevent gas price spikes, but this bill is more likely to push prices higher for families like mine, who are already feeling the weight of rising costs.

Even the California Energy Commission has warned that requiring refineries to hold onto fuel could cause artificial shortages and drive prices up even more.

We’re already facing increasing costs for housing, groceries, and utilities. The last thing we need is to pay more at the pump. ABX2-1 doesn’t tackle the real reasons California’s gas prices are so high — like state taxes and regulations. In fact, it’s only going to make things worse.

I’m asking you to stand with your constituents and vote no on ABX2-1. Let’s focus on real solutions that lower costs instead of making life more expensive for all of us.
